Tell ferry workers that you’ve got their backs!
We are members of your community, and we keep our ferry routes running smoothly every day.
We know how the inland ferries matter to our families, friends, and neighbours – getting us to our appointments, jobs, schools and extended families. We take pride in our skilled work and commitment to ensuring the safety and sustainability of ferry operations.
Unfortunately, Western Pacific Marine seems to be prioritizing short term profits over the sustainability of the service by not offering its workers the same deal that other ferry workers have gotten in the region.
We’re fighting to keep our ferries running reliably.
However, if Western Pacific Marine doesn’t agree to provide the training, scheduling changes and wages needed to recruit and retain experienced staff – who are in demand from the broader maritime industry from Vancouver to Singapore and beyond – we’re afraid that our community won’t be able to rely on regular ferry service in the years to come.
That’s why we’re standing up to fight for the future of our service.
To drive home how important these ferries are, we’re collecting stories from our neighbours to share with the ferry operators, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and our broader community.
Tell us why these ferries are important to you, and together we can build a more secure future for ferry transportation in our region.
